Discussion at Vino LocaleIn the tradition of a salon, this month will be just a dicussion. Future salons will return to Fenwick and West, but this month it will be at Vino Locale, 431 Kipling. The topics will include, but are not limited to: The metaphor of the "smart grid" - Cognitive linguist, Geroge Lakoff, has discussed how terms like "global warming" and "climate change" have caused confusion as to the seriousness and validity of the problems. Taxpayers and ratepayers are unwilling to pay for something they can't understand and does not provide benefit for them. Who will pay for the smart grid? Continuing last month's topic: "can isolated generation server our power needs?" And: "What will be the real economic changes from the new power infrastructure?" It will be a small group, so come on down at about 6:30, have a glass of wine and let's discuss this. Don Steiny |
